Moving Tips to Help You Settle Into Your Corpus Christi, TX, Apartment
Five tips to make moving a breeze
Tip 1: Start early
If you can, start your packing process early, ideally a couple weeks before the actual move. You can start by packing up items that you likely won’t need before the move, such as books, seldom-used kitchenware, and much of your clothing. Just be sure to keep out the thing you’ll need on a daily basis out and available until the move.
Tip 2: Have plenty of boxes and packing supplies
You’ll need a lot of boxes to pack up all of your belongings, likely more than you think. Go out and buy a bunch of boxes or get them from your friend’s basement. Even if you pack most of your belongings ahead of time, be sure to have extra boxes leftover for moving day. You’ll likely end up needing to throw last-minute items into boxes, and getting stuck without them makes moving day all the more stressful.
Tip 3: Label boxes
Even though it will all eventually get unpacked in your new place, labeling boxes helps you or the movers know what room each box should go in. It also helps you find the pot you need for cooking dinner the night you move in, or the place you put your bedding.
Tip 4: Let go of belongings
As part of the packing and moving process, you should take the opportunity to pare down your belongings, getting rid of unwanted clothes, hoards of plastic bags, or other items that have piled up in your home. Only pack things you actually want to bring with you to your new home, and donate or get rid of the rest.
Tip 5: Pack an overnight bag for your first night
Nothing is worse than getting all moved in, wanting to take a nice hot shower, and not knowing where your towel or a change of clothes is. Packing an overnight bag for your first night will mean you have all the essentials you need to freshen up and settle in after doing the heavy lifting of moving.
